Working with CAE projects
CAE projects are automatically stored in C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\CAE\Projects.
Recommendations:
- Document Project usernames and passwords according to your company’s policies and standards.
- Follow user account management tasks as described by your organization or contact your network administrator.
- Store exported project XML files in a protected location. XML files are not encrypted.
Creating a project
After creating a project, you will be logged out and must log in with the default SecurityAdmin username and password. Passwords can be different or the same for each Project.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in loss of data.
To create a project:
- Open Cybersecurity Admin Expert.
- On the Projects tab, select Create project.
- In the Create a new project window, enter project details in the fields.
- From the Architecture drop-down menu, select a project architecture.
- Select Save.
Opening a project
To open a project:
- Open Cybersecurity Admin Expert.
- On the Projects tab, on your desired project, select Open the project.
The project displays on the User accounts page.
Importing or exporting a project
By default, import and export is only enabled for the security administrator (SECADM) role.
To import a project:
- Open Cybersecurity Admin Expert.
- On the Projects tab, select Import project.
- In the Import a project window, browse to the location of the project file.
- Enter the password, and select Import.
The opened project is available on the Projects tab.
To export a project:
- Open Cybersecurity Admin Expert.
- On the Projects tab, on the desired project card, select Export the project.
- In the Export project window, enter and confirm an IEEE1686 standard-compliant password to encrypt the export file.
- Select Export.
- Choose an export location and select OK, or find your exported project file in Downloads.
- Select OK.

Deleting a project
To delete a project:
- Open Cybersecurity Admin Expert.
- On the Projects page, on the desired project card, select Delete the project.
- Confirm when prompted.
