Explanation

Peak DC bus current

The highest current on the DC bus.

The peak DC bus current required by the application (that is the highest current that occurs in the application cycle modeled in Motion Sizer) is compared to the peak DC bus current provided by the hardware (that is the characteristic of the selected hardware for the selected supply voltage).

Rated DC bus current

The rated continuous current on the DC bus.

The rated DC bus current required by the application (that is the average current that occurs in the application cycle modeled in Motion Sizer) is compared to the rated DC bus current provided by the hardware (that is the characteristic of the selected hardware for the selected supply voltage).

The rated DC bus current provided by the hardware is subject to derating. The value that is shown has automatically been reduced by the derating factor.

Braking power

The power that is dissipated due to braking on the DC bus.

oThe braking power required by the application is the braking power that needs to be dissipated: Power that can be used for regenerative braking is not included in this value. Therefore, combining several drives on a shared DC bus can result in a lower braking power than the sum of braking powers for each drive individually.

oThe braking power provided by the hardware is the braking power that can be dissipated by the internal braking resistors of the selected devices (sum of the devices on the DC bus).

oThe braking power externally needed is the braking power of the application that exceeds the braking power provided by the hardware. This braking power needs to be managed externally, for example, by a braking resistor or capacitor module. Consult the hardware manual of the selected drive to determine which options are available.

DC bus capacity

The sum of the capacities in a shared DC bus.

This value is not shown in Motion Sizer. If the DC bus capacity of the drives on a shared DC bus exceeds the permissible maximum, the message MS2101 is created.
