Connecting the Motor Phases, the Temperature Sensor and the Brake
oIt must be made sure that the cross-section of the motor cable is large enough.
oThe motor phases, the temperature sensor, and the optional holding brake must be connected to the servo amplifier according to the pin configuration of the motor connector of the operating manual of the servo amplifier.
It is important to ensure that the connection techniques used ensure a safe connection of the protective ground conductor, a sufficient shielding and a sufficient ruggedization against mechanical load and mechanical traction forces. The shielding must be connected to both the motor and the servo amplifier. Additionally, the touch guard and sufficient insulation must be ensured.
oIt is recommended to use the Schneider Electric standard for the current drawn by the motor for connecting the motor (see Hardware Guide and data sheet provided by the motor vendor).
oWhen using Schneider Electric cables ,make sure the pin assignment on the motor side (M23 or M40 connector) matches the pin assignment of Schneider Electric motors (as defined by the Lexium SH3 motor data sheet)
NOTE: The direction of the power phases (U,V,W) is not always the same across motor vendors. If the motor turns in the wrong direction (parameter MotorCommutationState of the drive has the value Wrong direction detected), then switch two phases.
oIf the motor has another power connection or a pin assignment incompatible to the specified assignment in the Lexium SH3 motor data sheet, the motor phases, the temperature sensor, and the optional holding brake must be connected to the drive according to the pin configuration of the motor connector on the drive manual. In this case, it is especially important to make sure that the connection techniques used ensure a proper connection of the protective ground conductor, a sufficient shielding and a sufficient ruggedization against mechanical load and mechanical traction forces. The shielding must be connected to both the motor and the servo amplifier. Additionally, the touch guard and sufficient insulation must be ensured.
oWhen connecting the motor, the instructions and recommendations of the operating manual of the servo amplifier are also to be considered.

UNINTENDED MOVEMENT OF THE AXIS |
oBefore and during commissioning, make sure that you can stop axis movements at any time using suitable safety equipment (limit switch, emergency stop). oBefore commissioning, ensure the proper functioning of the safety equipment. oFor hanging loads, there must be a holding brake that has the ability to hold the arising torques / forces on the motor. |
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage. |
