General Information

The Lexium 62 ILM with Safety option module for Lexium 62 ILM supports the safety-related functions STO, SS1, SOS, SS2, SLS, SDI, and SMS.

Safety-related functions only monitor the movement of the axis. They do not control the movement of the axis.

If an error of a safety-related function or an internal error of the drive is detected, the drive terminates the on-going safety-related function and invokes the STO function and deactivates the power stage of the drive. As a result, the motor is torque free and it comes to a stop.

For example, the safety-related function Safely Limited Speed (SLS) monitors the speed of the drive against a configured speed limit. If the speed limit is not respected as defined, the fallback function SS1, followed by STO switches the motor into a torque free state.
