Achievable Safety Integrity Level / Performance Level

The IEC 61508, which describes the functional safety of electrical, electronic, or programmable electronic safety-related systems, specifies four levels of safety performance for a safety-related function.

These are called Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), ranging from 1 (the lowest) to 4 (the highest). The TM5CSLC100FS and TM5CSLC200FS Safety Logic Controllers are certified for use in SIL 3 applications. In SIL 3, the de-energized state is the defined safe state.

The EN ISO 13849 standard defines Performance Levels (PL) for the risk assessment. The maximum achievable level for a safety-related application with the SLC and the safety-related TM5/TM7 modules is PL e.

For details on the Functional Safety Certification as well as the classification of Schneider Electric devices and products, refer to the hardware guides of the TM5CSLCx00FS and the safety-related TM5/TM7 modules.
