LOSS OF CONTROL

oConsider the potential failure modes of control paths in the machine control system design, such as:

oThe possibility of backlight failure,

oUnanticipated link transmission delays or failures,

oThe operator being unable to control the machine,

oThe operator making errors in the control of the machine.

oProvide a means to achieve a safe state during and after a path failure for critical control functions such as emergency stop and overtravel stop.

oProvide separate or redundant control paths for critical control functions.

oObserve all accident prevention regulations and local safety guidelines.1

oTest individually and thoroughly each implementation of the equipment for correct operation before service.
