Before you begin to install your TM5 System, you need to establish a plan that identifies:
othe type of enclosure for the TM5 System
othe number and type of expansion modules on your TM5 System
othe order in which any TM5 expansion modules are assembled together to form the TM5 bus
othe power requirements of your TM5 System configuration
oa coding scheme that helps match the terminal blocks with their electronic modules
oa labeling plan
The local TM5 bus is constructed as a series of interconnected bus base units. The structure of the TM5 backplane is defined by the type and order of electronic modules that will reside in it. You will need to make these decisions in advance and the association table can help you. There is a color coding system in the TM5 System. In addition to labeling your TM5 System, you can also follow a coding system of the electronic modules and terminal blocks.
NOTE: The safety-related I/O slices do not support the coding of the electronic modules.
When you plan a TM5 System layout, you need to know the number and type of expansion electronic modules and their matching bus bases and terminal blocks.
NOTE: There are restrictions and regulations associated with certain module types. Refer to the hardware guides.
Once the number and type of modules has been established, it becomes possible to determine power distribution requirements, your external power source requirements and the overall hardware design.
