Repairing After Collisions

Overview

Components may be damaged as a result of a collision.

 WARNING
FALLING OR EJECTED PARTS
  • Thoroughly inspect all components of the robot and all components attached to the robot, including the motor and the gearbox, for damage after a collision.
  • Do not use the robot if any of the components are damaged or suspected to be damaged.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

Verifying the Robot After a Collision

Replace upper arms, lower arms and/or parallel rods if dents or cracks are observed or otherwise detected.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

Action

Verify the components for completeness. If any components are missing, locate the same and remove them from the surrounding machinery.

Replace damaged or missing components.

Verify the upper arms, lower arms and parallel rods for visible dents or cracks.

Dents reduce the strength of the arms and may cause component breakdown.

Verify the calibration by moving the upper arms to the calibration tool.

NOTE: If the tolerance requirements for calibration are not met, replace the upper arms.

Verify the lower arms and the parallel rods for straightness.

Release the brakes and manually move the robot to verify the ease of operation.

Close the brakes and verify that there is a small backlash in the gearboxes and no cracking noises.
