Definition of Terms Concerning Calculations for the Mains

Overview

Motion Sizer can calculate current and power for the mains supply. These values are for informational purposes and are not used for further internal calculations by Motion Sizer. They can be of help for you in selecting suitable mains fuses, mains contactors, mains filters, and mains line reactors (choke) for your machine. Consult the hardware manual of the selected drive as well in order to respect the requirements imposed by different drive families.

NOTE: The values calculated for the mains are based on the assumption that a mains line reactor (choke) is used. If you are not using a mains line reactor (choke), the values on the mains will differ substantially from those calculated by Motion Sizer.

Depending on the drive family and other conditions, a mains line reactor (choke) may be required, or optional. Verify whether or not the mains line reactor (choke) is optional in the hardware manual of your drive.
