BACnet/IP settings

Parameter Values Description
Device ID settings
Device ID

0–4194302

Note: The Device ID can be set to 4194303, but this value should only be used to indicate that the BACnet device is uninitialized, disabled, or unused.

Specifies the BACnet device object's instance number (used for the Object_Identifier property). The default Device ID is the last five digits of the MAC address (hexadecimal) converted to decimal.

We recommend changing the default Device ID to reduce the risk of an attacker gaining device information.

Tip: The Device ID must be unique on the BACnet/IP network.

Device mode settings
Device Mode Normal, Foreign

Defines the device behavior as a BACnet device:

  • Normal: Your device will communicate over the BACnet network without requiring registration to a BACnet Broadcast Management Device (BBMD).

  • Foreign: Your device will register as a foreign device on the BACnet network. Registration requests are sent to the BBMD, defined by BBMD Address.

BBMD Address IPv4 address

Specifies the IPv4 address of the BBMD with which your device registers as a foreign device.

If you do not know the BBMD Address, contact your local network administrator.

Port 1–65535 Specifies the UDP port of the BBMD where registration requests are sent. If this field is left empty, the default port number is used (47808).
Object_Name settings
Ethernet Device Name Up to 49 characters

Specifies the BACnet device object's Object_Name property.

Tip: The Object_Name property must be unique on the BACnet/IP network.

By default, the meter is named <meter type>-<last six digits of MAC address>. For example, a meter with a MAC address of 006078173393 appears on the network as <meter type>-173393.

Note: Ethernet Device Name is also used for DHCP with DNS and DPWS. Changing Ethernet Device Name will affect how you access or find your device using DHCP and DPWS.
