Summary

Firmware version 2.2.1 (V002.002.001) contains a number of new features and changes that are designed to expand the functionality of your meter.

This topic lists the new functionality in firmware version 2.2.1, as well as how to obtain additional information and resources.

Prerequisites

• Back up all your meter data. See the Firmware upgrades section or download Upgrade meter firmware to v2.2.1 for detailed information on how to upgrade the meter firmware.
• ION Setup (version 3.2 or later)

ION Setup version 3.2 (or later) is required to view high-speed transient capture (HSTC) waveforms and data, and to update meter web pages, option modules and remote displays via SFTP.

New product offer PowerLogic™ ION9000T

The ION9000T supports all the features of the ION9000 series meter, plus highspeed transient capture (HSTC). Specialized components and circuitry in the ION9000T allow it to record very fast transients not detectable by other power meters.

Monitoring and analyzing high-speed transients allows the user to identify and understand the impact transients may have on their electrical network.

New functionality

This section lists the new functionality that is added to your meter after you upgrade to firmware version 2.2.1.

Secure protocols

Firmware version 2.2.1 supports secure file transfer protocol (SFTP). SFTP completely replaces FTP. SFTP adds a layer of encryption, through secure socket shell (SSH), that helps prevent unauthorized access, uploads and downloads to the meter. SFTP is used for uploading web pages, transferring COMTRADE files, and for upgrading I/O modules and remote displays.

NOTE: FTP and Telnet protocols are no longer supported.

DNP inactivity timeout

Firmware version 2.2.1 includes a new setup register that you can use to configure DNP timeouts.

Use the Inactivity Timeout register to define how long a meter waits before timing out after no DNP traffic is detected on the port.

NOTE: This timeout only applies if the communications port is set to ETHERNET.
