Specify a Different Location for the Online Help
By default, the online help is installed both on the Geo SCADA Expert server and locally on each ViewX client. With server and client machines on which Geo SCADA Expert is installed directly, this enables users to access the help locally, on the server or client machine from which they are viewing the online help (see Installation of the Online Help).
You can run Geo SCADA Expert on remote desktop setups (see Geo SCADA Expert on Citrix and Remote Desktop Services). On such a setup, each client might require multiple users to share a common set of help files. You can specify the location at which the help files are unpacked on such a client so that the online help can be shared between users.
To do this:
-
On the Citrix/Remote Desktop Services server on which ViewX is installed, create a folder in which to unpack and install the online help for use by each 'instance' of ViewX on each Citrix/Remote Desktop Services client.
-
Ensure that all users that are to access Geo SCADA Expert via the above clients have Read and Write access to the above folder.
-
Add this registry key to the machine on which ViewX is installed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\ViewX
-
Set the value of the registry key to specify the location of the folder that you created in step 1.
HelpPath "c:\Help"
-
Ensure that the Client Access Control List on the Citrix/Remote Desktop Services server on which ViewX is installed is set up to enable the Citrix/Remote Desktop Services clients to access the online help from its new location (see Enable and Manage the Client Access Control List).
Be aware that if the specified online help folder is not present, or the registry key is invalid in any way, the ViewX instances will revert back to accessing the help from the default help location on the client. As such, on clients on which multiple users share a common set of help files, the online help will likely unpack each time a different users logs on and a new ViewX session is started.
