Upgrade a License

You need to upgrade your license(s) for Geo SCADA Expert as part of the Geo SCADA Expert upgrade process. The license(s) affect which features, drivers, and so on, are available on your system.

Geo SCADA Expert supports several types of license:

The technique that you use to upgrade your Geo SCADA Expert license will vary depending on the type of license you use. For more information, please refer to the section that is relevant to your Geo SCADA Expert system, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.

Which Type of License does my Geo SCADA Expert System Use?

Use the License Details window to ascertain which type of license is used on your Geo SCADA Expert system (see Display the License Details Window on a Geo SCADA Expert Server).

In addition to having a license for each Geo SCADA Expert server, your system might also have client licenses (see Enable or Disable Client Licensing, and see Associate a ViewX client - System Connection with a Client License).

Licenses for Geo SCADA Mobile

The licensing process for Geo SCADA Mobile differs slightly to that of Geo SCADA Expert.

Virtual ViewX Licenses

The licensing process for Virtual ViewX differs slightly to that of Geo SCADA Expert.

The Virtual ViewX server requires a single ViewX Client license, regardless of the number of Geo SCADA Expert systems to which it is to connect. This ViewX Client license can be a dongle license, or software license. Additionally, the Virtual ViewX server needs to be licensed for the relevant number of Virtual ViewX client users. This is a separate software processes from that used for Geo SCADA Expert and does not involve dongles or license files (see License your Virtual ViewX Installation).
