Normal and Promoted Scanning

You configure different types of point in Geo SCADA Expert, depending on the type of data that you want the Advanced Modbus driver to retrieve (see Configuring Advanced Modbus Devices). To retrieve or write to data on Generic Modbus controllers, you configure the relevant type of ‘Generic’ analog or digital point (see Points Used on Generic Modbus Controllers).

This section summarizes the way in which Geo SCADA Expert retrieves data from most types of point on a Modbus controller (see Standard Points). If your system is running an Advanced Modbus Extension Driver, refer to the relevant extension driver guide for any scanning methodology that differs from that mentioned in this section.
