Quick Start Tutorial

This section provides a guided tour designed to lead you through connecting a SCADAPack Eoutstation to Geo SCADA Expert, then communicating with that outstation using the DNP3 protocol. The procedure is for a SCADAPack ES outstation, however similar steps can be undertaken using other E outstation models.

To perform the procedure, you will need:

• A server and client on which Geo SCADA Expert is installed.
• A SCADAPack ES outstation and power supply.
• RS-232 9-Pin D-Sub to RJ12 Serial cable—see the SCADAPack ES Hardware User and Reference Manual for information on the construction of this cable.
• A small flat head screwdriver—to change the Hex Switch settings and tighten the I/O terminals.
• Two short lengths of insulated copper wire—to connect analog output 4 of the SCADAPack ES outstation to analog input 12.

Now proceed as follows:

1. Confirm that the DNP3 and SCADAPack E Server Components are Installed.
2. Setup a SCADAPack ES Outstation.
3. Create the Geo SCADA Expert Database Items.
4. Power Up the SCADAPack ES Outstation.
5. Control the DNP3 SCADAPack Analog Output Point.
