Specify the Sparkplug Host ID

The Form of a Sparkplug™ Broker includes a Sparkplug tab. Use the field on the tab to configure this property:

• Sparkplug Host ID—Enter a name or short description that uniquely identifies the SCADA host application (that is, this Geo SCADA Expert system).

  You can specify any valid UTF-8 alphanumeric string of up to 32 characters.

  The Sparkplug Host ID string:

  • Is case sensitive
  • Has to be unique to all Sparkplug Host IDs in the infrastructure.

  If upgrading from Geo SCADA Expert 2022 after previously running the Sparkplug driver in that version of Geo SCADA Expert, you will be prompted to populate the above field after the upgrade.

  If you configure any Sparkplug items in your database by importing an .sde file from a Geo SCADA Expert 2022 database, ensure that the Sparkplug Host ID field is populated on each Sparkplug Broker item that is affected by the import. This action is required due to the different way in which Geo SCADA Expert helped to ensure that Client Identifiers remained unique across the system in Geo SCADA Expert 2022.
