Specify the Length of String to Request

The String Point tab on the Forms of protocol-specific SCADAPack x70 String Points contains these properties, which are specific to String Points:

• Maximum String Length—This field determines the maximum length of the string's current value. The field is 'grayed out' as its value is determined by the same-named field on the associated Configuration item (see Specify the Maximum String Length - String Configuration).

• Length of String to Request—Specify the maximum length of the string that Geo SCADA Expert is to request from the SCADAPack x70 device in which the string is located. If you specify a value that is greater than the Maximum String Length, the string that is returned will still only be up to that maximum string length. The default is zero (0), which results in the whole string being read.
