Geo SCADA Expert 2025 will be the last version of the product to support and include the deprecated Original WebX client. For web client support, please use Virtual ViewX clients instead of Original WebX clients.
If you use Original WebX clients, you will need to upgrade them after you have upgraded your Geo SCADA Expert server. During the Geo SCADA Expert upgrade process, a new WebX ActiveX control is installed on the server. For Original WebX clients to be able to connect to the server, they must also have the new ActiveX control installed.
If your Original WebX clients are able to download an ActiveX control, the upgrade will take place automatically when they connect to the Geo SCADA Expert server. Each Original WebX client will download the required ActiveX control from the Geo SCADA Expert server and install it.
If your company security policy prohibits the downloading of ActiveX controls, the Original WebX clients will be unable to download the required ActiveX control from the server. You will need to upgrade the Original WebX clients by using the Geo SCADA Expert ISO image (follow the instructions on each ‘page’ of the installer and ensure that you install the WebX component).
ATTENTION: An Original WebX client can only connect to an upgraded Geo SCADA Expert server if the client has the latest ActiveX control. So if you are installing the new ActiveX control, you need to be aware that your Original WebX clients will be unable to connect until you complete the installation.
