Licensing process

The licensing process is different for new systems, system upgrades, and system migrations. The following shows the high-level process for each. For further information, see the resources provided in Licensing resources.

New system licensing

System upgrade licensing

The following flowchart shows the high-level licensing process for PME system upgrades:

(*) PME systems must be upgraded using a services plan with software assurance.

System migration licensing

The following flowchart shows the high-level licensing process for moving a PME system to a new server, or reinstalling it on the same server after the operating system has been reinstalled:
