Verify and replace the toothed belt periodically.
Replace the toothed belt according to the maintenance schedule or earlier if it shows signs of excessive wear.
When maintaining the toothed belt, note the following facts:
oIf the axis is not mounted in a horizontal orientation, verify that the belt is unloaded (payload is disassembled) in order to verify the correct toothed belt tension. While the toothed belt is installed, you can measure the toothed belt tension only by vibration measurement.
oThe toothed belt tension must be so high that the belt is still tensioned under maximum operating load.
oIf the toothed belt tension is not high enough, this may lead to skipping. If the toothed belt tension is too high, this increases the load on the bearings and reduces the service life of the toothed belt.
oDue to pitch and rigidity tolerances of the toothed belt, the newly adjusted toothed belt tension may differ from the originally adjusted toothed belt tension.
