Transformer loss compensation

Note: This feature is only available on revenue-grade devices.

Use transformer loss compensation when the device location (metering point) is different from the billing point. For example, the device is connected on the low-voltage (load) side of a power transformer, and the billing point is on the high-voltage (supply) side of the power transformer.

The physical separation between the metering point and the billing point causes measurable losses. Loss compensation is the means of correcting the meter reading based on these losses. Losses can be added to or subtracted from the measured values to correct the meter reading. The amount of loss depends on the equipment, the conductor materials, and the distance between the metering point and the billing point.

There are two methods to configure transformer loss compensation:

  • Test sheet method
  • Percent loss constants method
