Configure a Device Configuration Item

You use a SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item to configure and store the configuration settings that are specific to a SCADAPack x70 device. The information enables Geo SCADA Expert to generate configuration for downloading to the SCADAPack x70 devices (see Understand the SCADAPack x70 Driver).

The form of a SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item contains a number of tabs. You use the properties on the tabs to configure the required settings. During the configuration process, you might choose to import configuration from RemoteConnect. A configuration report is generated if an attempt to import configuration succeeds with warnings, or if Geo SCADA Expert is unable to import the configuration from RemoteConnect. You use the Historic tab to specify the length of time for which the configuration reports are retained online (see Define the Historic Life of Configuration Reports).

The rest of the topics in this section cover the other tabs that contain properties that are specific to SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration items. For more information, see the topics that are listed in the gray footer section at the bottom of this topic. Select the relevant entry to display the topic that you require.

The tabs that are not mentioned in this section contain properties that are common to database items on many drivers:

Whenever you add a new SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item to the database, ensure that you select the correct type of database item—the one that represents the 'family' of SCADAPack x70 devices to which the SCADAPack x70 device belongs. The family cannot be changed by importing or uploading changes to the configuration.

Whenever you copy a SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item, the copy will include any SCADAPack x70 logic that is associated with that database item.

The Tables that are associated with an individual Device Configuration item are built in to that item in the database. As such, if your user account has the Double Click Edits Documents feature enabled, the Tables will be displayed when you double-click on the Device Configuration item in the Database Bar. To edit the configuration properties associated with the Device Configuration item itself, right-click on the Device Configuration entry in the Database Bar and select the Edit Properties option.
