Mode of Operation of a Virtual ViewX Server
You can change the mode of operation of a Virtual ViewX server in order to allow users to make database configuration changes using the Virtual ViewX clients that are running on that server. You can run Virtual ViewX in either of the following modes:
- Limited Virtual ViewX/Operator mode (default)
- Full Virtual ViewX (see below)
When you run Virtual ViewX without the limited mode, if your User Account has the relevant access and permissions, you will be able to make configuration changes through your web client.
To change the mode of operation:
- From the Start menu, open the Virtual UI Server Tool (see Working with the Virtual UI Server Tool).
- Navigate to the Applications tab.
- Double-click on the Virtual ViewX entry that is listed in the Application list section.
The Virtual ViewX Application Profiles Editor window is displayed. - On the General tab, in the Arguments field, remove the
/limitedargument and then select the OK button. The arguments
/thinfinityvirtualui /limited /bellSilencedhave to be changed to/thinfinityvirtualui /bellSilenced. - Select the Apply button.
The Virtual ViewX server is now running in Full Virtual ViewX mode.
Reinstate the Mode of Operation Following an Upgrade
If your Virtual ViewX server is set up to enable users to make database configuration changes using the Virtual ViewX clients that are running on that server, you will have to reinstate that setting whenever you upgrade the
Virtual ViewX server. To do this, after completing the upgrade to run a newer version of Geo SCADA Expert software, follow the procedure shown above to remove the /limited argument.
Perform the same change on any other upgraded Virtual ViewX servers that are also to allow the same functionality.
