A Heavy-Duty carrier has six lubrication pads which must be replaced at the same time.
Refer to the Maintenance Schedule and the Information About Replacing Parts of the Lexium™ MC12 Heavy-Duty Carrier.
Step |
Action |
---|---|
1 |
Install the protective cover of the drive magnets by sliding it onto the magnets if it is not already installed. Refer to Removing the Protective Cover of the Drive Magnets.
NOTE: A Heavy-Duty carrier has six lubrication pads which must be replaced at the same time. Four are installed in the main body and two are installed at the end of the top rotatable arms.
|
2 |
To replace the lubrication pads in the main body, the rotatable arms have to be dismounted: remove the cover plate at the top and the bottom of the Heavy-Duty carrier by loosening the six screws at each plate. |
3 |
Under the cover plates, you can find the head of the hex bolt which holds the rotatable arms. Unscrew the four hex bolts to dismount the rotatable arms. |
4 |
The lubrication pads in the main body are sitting behind the mounting plates: loosen the six screws at each mounting plate and dismount the mounting plates. |
5 |
Replace the lubrication pads on the mounting plates. |
6 |
Screw the mounting plates together with the lubrication pads to the main body. |
7 |
Place the rotatable arms in position and make sure that both bearings, with the distance ring in between, are mounted. After that push through the hex bolt.
NOTE: Apply thin layer of medium strength threadlocker on the thread of the bolt.
|
8 |
Tighten the hex bolt in the thread of the rotatable arm with 5 Nm (44.25 lbf-in). |
9 |
Place the cover plates at the top and the bottom of the Heavy-Duty carrier and mount them with their six screws. Tighten the screws with 2.5 Nm (lbf-in). |
10 |
For the change of the lubrication pads that are mounted at the end of the rotatable arms, loosen the two screws at each bracket. |
11 |
Remove the bracket together with the lubrication pad. |
12 |
Replace the lubrication pads from the brackets. |
13 |
Screw the brackets again to the rotatable arms. |
14 |
Lubricate the Heavy-Duty carrier. Refer to Lubricating the Lexium™ MC12 Heavy-Duty Carrier. |
