Ethernet communication
Ethernet communication uses the RJ45 jack on supported devices. Use Ethernet communication to configure supported protocols.
Turn off unused protocols, such as:
- SFTP
- Standard ION
- Network ports
Turning off unused protocols and ports helps reduce the device attack surface. For protocols that are in use, change their default port numbers to reduce port predictability.
Keep Secure ION turned on for configuration changes and updates. If you turn off Secure ION, use the display, Modbus programming, or webpages to access the device. For more information on how to use the display and webpages, see your device user manual.
