Binary Point States

Use the fields within the States section of the Binary Point tab to define state-related information for a SCADAPack x70 Binary point, such as the handling of state-related alarms.

The number of states that are available for use depends on the Number of Bits setting (see Common Properties on Points used for DNP3 Communications). With a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Binary Input Point that represents a double-bit point, the Number of Bits is set to 2, so enabling four states.

If the point represents a physical digital input on a SCADAPack x70 device or 6000 series I/O Module, you can also specify whether the point states correspond directly or inversely to the raw state of that physical input. To do this, you use the Invert State property on the SCADAPack x70 Digital Configuration item with which the point is associated (see Configure the Physical I/O Performance Properties).

If a severity is set to Event or Alarm then the SCADAPack x70 Digital Configuration item should be assigned to point data class 1, 2 or 3 for the appropriate controlling station (see Specify the Point Data Class used for DNP3 Communications). When set, the SCADAPack x70 device generates a DNP3 event to notify Geo SCADA Expert when the point changes state triggering an alarm/event. For the DNP3 event to be generated, the Event/Alert Inhibit setting must be set to 'No' (see Specify the Alert Notification Requirements). You can configure Alert Deadband time delays for the SCADAPack x70 device to apply before generating a DNP3 event due to the point changing state (see Configure the Event Attributes). The Alert Active State setting determines which Alert Deadband is applied to a particular change of state.
