Enable Comms Logging

Associated with: Channels

Security permission required to access this pick action: Diagnostics

Use this pick action to log the ‘good’ communications on a channel (see Enable or Disable Communications Logging on a Channel in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration).

NOTICE

POTENTIAL security BREACH

If Comms Logging or IO Logging is enabled on a channel on which TLS is in use, the resulting Comms or IO log files will include the unencrypted data. Ensure that you take the necessary precautions to protect the data in the files from unintentional information disclosure.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in unintentional information disclosure.

Comms Logging on a channel is not enabled by default. Before enabling such logging, ensure that enough disk space is available to store the log files that will be produced.

The Logging system color indicates that Communications, I/O Logging, or Telnet monitoring are enabled on a channel. The Comms Logging status attribute indicates the channel’s current Comms Logging status.

For more information, see Communications Logging in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Server Administration.

If using this pick action with the Automation Interface, you need to specify the method name EnableLogging.
