Configuring NTP or SNTP time synchronization

Prerequisites:

• Open the device table of contents
• Connect to your device

To configure NTP/SNTP time synchronization:

1. Select Basic Setup > Clock > Date and Time.
2. Go to Time Synchronization.
3. Set the Time Synchronization Type Specifies the time format of incoming time sync messages. to UTC.
4. Set the Time Synchronization Source to Ethernet.
5. Set Enable NTP/SNTP Time Synchronization to NTP or SNTP, depending on your application.
6. Enter the SNTP/NTP Server IP address or full host name.

   Recommedation: Use the server host name if available (DNS is enabled); the IP address may change.

7. (SNTP only) Enter the Time Synchronization Interval.
8. (NTP only) Enter the Event Logging Threshold Specifies the minimum time difference (in seconds) for a synchronization message to be logged as an event. The range is 0.000001–1 s..
9. Set the Clock Source to Internal.
10. Select Save Working Copy.
11. Synchronize changes.
